Use case · depot containers

Recycling points that stay clean.

An overfull container attracts dumped bags – and a recycling point becomes an eyesore. The PhilRay fill-level sensor reports in time which depot container is filling up, so it is emptied before anything lands beside it.

Where recycling points get stuck

01

Bags beside the container

Once a container is full, people leave things beside it. A site runs down faster than the next round arrives.

02

Complaints instead of an overview

You often only learn that a container is full through calls, emails or the citizen reporting app.

03

Rigid collection rhythms

Fixed rounds empty half-full containers and come too late for others after holidays.

04

No figures for planning

Which site needs a second container, which can do with fewer? Without readings it stays a gut feeling.

Emptied before it overflows

When a container reaches the threshold you set, the platform automatically sends a message by email, SMS or push – to dispatch and, if you like, to your clients or contractors. The round then visits the recycling points that need it.

Any depot container

Igloo or metal container

The sensor measures down into the container – whatever its build and whatever goes in. Tell us your containers and we will tell you in advance where the sensor goes.

  1. Glass and plastic igloos

The sensor sits inside the dome, protected from weather and vandalism.

  2. Metal depot containers

Paper, packaging, textiles, small electrical appliances: mounted under the roof, no conversion.

  3. Collection detected

An acceleration sensor detects the crane lift – the collection is documented.

What you get

Cleaner streets, fewer trips

Message at a high fill level

Automatically by email, SMS or push – before residents call.

Rounds on demand

Full containers first, half-full ones stay. That saves trips and CO₂.

Equip sites correctly

Usage per site and fraction shows where a container is missing and where one is too many.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the sensor fit our containers?

As a rule, yes – glass igloo, plastic igloo or metal depot container. Tell us your containers and we will tell you in advance where the sensor goes.

Are we notified when a container is nearly full?

Yes. As soon as a container reaches the threshold you set, the platform automatically sends a message by email, SMS or push – to dispatch and, if you like, to clients or contractors. With their own access they only see their own sites.

Does the sensor detect the collection?

Yes. An acceleration sensor detects the crane lift; the platform records the collection with the fill level before and after.

How much work is installation?

Very little. In Norderstedt all 83 containers across the city were fitted in a single morning.

How long does the battery last?

The batteries are designed for 5 years and can be replaced. A low charge level is reported.

Your recycling points – where should we start?

Tell us your containers and the number of sites – we will show you fill levels, messages and rounds live.
